Joan's turning 80 (born 19 March 1927)

Mum does not want a big function for her birthday. Since last year we have been looking forward to celebrating in the usual manner for a special occasion, with all the friends and relatives together. We tried it this way and we tried it that way, but she is definitely not interested.

Our family will celebrate on Monday 19th (Canberra Day holiday) with a luncheon and boat cruise on Lake Burley Griffin. Mum and Dad have a couple of invitations in the next week or so to celebrate her birthday, too. I hope everyone gets to catch up with her sooner or later.

It would still be great if anyone who wants to, can send her a note that we can add to an A4 display book to commemorate her 80th birthday.

We are really sorry not to be having a big assembly, and you know how much we all like them. Hope you get to give your love to Mum soon (phone, write, invite).
Love to all

Joan's skin surgery

She had a lesion removed on Wednesday 7 March - poor Joan has a nasty suture line and bad swelling/bruising around the mouth and upper lip. The bruising has tracked across her lips and down her chin. She still can't chew or clean mouth/teeth on the right.
Hope it settles quickly.

Ron has been pretty well. He's seen the oncology specialist recently and will continue to be reviewed regularly. He's keeping up with physio at the hospital and bowls (with eager son-in-law Tom).
